Legacy Webfolio

Some things Grandma knows aren't written down anywhere. Yet.

(wisdom was always meant to be handed down)

How she met Grandpa. Why you never skip the buttermilk. What she'd tell you about your first heartbreak. Every family has an elder who carries a lifetime of wisdom, and too often it leaves with them. We sit down with you, your parent or your grandparent, listen, and build a website of their stories, voice, recipes and advice, on a .com your family keeps for generations. So the grandkids, and one day their grandkids, can still ask. View sample websites →

Wisdom is meant to be handed down.

For most of history, wisdom traveled the slow way: around the kitchen table and on the porch, from the oldest to the youngest. How to fix things. How to get through hard times. Where we came from, and who we are because of it. Today families live miles apart and life moves fast, and those talks happen less often than any of us would like.

A Legacy Webfolio keeps that wisdom in one place, in their own words and their own voice, so it passes from one generation to the next. The grandkids can visit at 8, at 18 and at 40, and one day share it with children of their own. And the elder gets something every one of us deserves: to be truly listened to.

"What was it like when you were my age?"

Celebration of Life

Some stories are told by the people who loved them.

After a celebration of life, the stories don't have to end when the hall empties. We gather what was shared that day, the eulogies, the photos, the songs and the memories people wrote down, and turn it into a webfolio in honor of the person, on a .com the family keeps.

  • The day, kept. The program, the readings and a recording of the tributes, for everyone who couldn't be there.
  • One gentle Story Call. Family and friends can join. We listen, and you never have to write a thing.
  • A guestbook that stays open. Friends keep adding memories and photos for years to come.
  • Private if you like. Share it with everyone, or keep it behind a family passcode. You approve every word.

Spotlight $500 or Supernova $700, one time. From year two, half price to keep it online.

Recipe for

A Legacy Webfolio

Serves: the whole family, for generations  ·  Ready in: about 2 to 3 weeks

no computer needed. it can all happen by phone

  1. Pick the .com. Choose the address up top, like grandmajune.com or robertgarcia.com. It's theirs to keep.
  2. Warm up the memories. We send a friendly list of prompts, like "tell us about your first car", so they can think ahead. No homework.
  3. Have the Story Call. A webfolio agent interviews them for 60 to 90 minutes by phone or video, split into two shorter calls if that's easier. Family is welcome to join.
  4. Add photos and recipes. Snap the old photos and recipe cards on your phone and send them over.
  5. We build it. We turn the conversation into stories, voice clips and advice cards, and design it by hand.
  6. They approve every word. The grandparent and family review it together. Nothing goes live without their yes.
  7. The reveal. Unveil it at a birthday, holiday or Sunday dinner. We send a printable card with the address and a QR code.

How referrals work

Questions families ask us

Does Mom need to use a computer?

Not at all. The Story Call can happen on a regular phone, and the family can send photos for them. If they'd rather do it themselves, that's wonderful too.

Do I need grandchildren to make one?

Not at all. Plenty of people make one to share what they've learned with friends, students, their community or simply the world. Who it's for is up to you.

What if they're shy, or say they have nothing to tell?

Almost everyone says that, and then talks for an hour. Our agents ask small, specific questions ("what did your kitchen smell like on Sundays?") and the stories come on their own.

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes, and many families do. Write the grandparent's name in your letter below, and your agent will plan the Story Call with you so the reveal can still be a surprise.

Can the family join the Story Call?

Of course. Some of the best stories come out when a grandchild asks the question. Just let your agent know who's coming.

Can parts of it be private?

Yes. Any part of the webfolio can sit behind a family passcode and stay out of search engines.

Is the domain really ours?

Yes. We register it and look after renewals and setup, and whenever you like, we'll transfer it to your family.

What happens after the first year?

From year two you pay half: $250 a year for Spotlight, $350 a year for Supernova, or $25 a month for Always On. That covers hosting, security updates, the domain renewal, the family's email inboxes, small updates and live support from a real person.
